Latin Heat at Ainsley House
The Campbell Museums bring up the Latin Heat on September 18 with a concert by the band at Ainsley House Garden.
Latin Heat aims to get audiences on their feet with original, classic salsa, merengue and cumbia music. The band features a horn section and authentic Latin vocals and percussion.
The garden opens at 1:30 p.m. on the day of the show and the music starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 at www.campbellmuseums.com and include light hors d’oeuvres, drinks, wine and a free visit to the Ainsley House.
Nowruz Ambassadors Wanted
The Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose is embarking on a three-year project exploring Nowruz, the Persian New Year’s celebration of the spring equinox, with the goal of developing a cultural festival and museum exhibit with individuals and organizations that celebrate Nowruz.
Nowruz Ambassadors can participate in a discussion group, complete a questionnaire about their Nowruz traditions, introduce museum staff to other members of the Persian community, share recipes and children’s favorite musical selections, talk with children about their history and family traditions and share historical photos and artifacts. .
