The Lucid, the new group starring former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson alongside Sponge frontman Vinnie Dombroski, Fear Factory drummer Mike Heller and guitarist Drew Fortier, released another new song, “Damned.”

In early September, Ellefson announced an upcoming project, dubbed The Lucid, and a week later followed with the announcement of the band’s self-titled debut album in tandem with lead single, “Maggot Wind”.

“Damned” offers further insight into the sonic scope of The Lucid, which embraces hard rock and ’90s alternative, far from adrenalized metal, Ellefson and Heller have a rich playing experience, but not without their own heavy moments .

“It’s been really great making a record with these guys and I have to say it’s refreshing to explore new musical avenues… to get out a bit of what each of us has done stylistically in our own careers,” said Ellefson said of the experience writing the self-titled album, which will be released Oct. 15 on SpoilerHead Records. “There was an effortless synergy that came with creating these songs together,” he continued, “which is always amazing when working with new people. world is listening! “

The group’s formation predates Ellefson’s ouster from Megadeth, after a sexual interaction with a woman was leaked in a digital video chat, for which he is now pursuing pornographic revenge charges.

Lyrics for “Damned” by The Lucid

To walk slowly
My steps waver
One step forward
Ten miles back
My words are groping
My tongue swelled
Find the water
Find the water

Too many things
I hate to explain
Too many days
I had to blame
On a future
Distant

Damned if you do
Damned if you don’t
Damned if you’re rich
Damned if you’re broke
Damned if you see
Damned if you’re blind
Damned if you seek
Damned if you find

Better foot forward
My heart broke
Pick up pieces
Find your master
Time is running out now
The end is coming
More and more tired
The fight gets tired

Too many things
I hate to explain
Too many words
I must have dreaded
Too many failures
Drive you crazy

Damned if you do
Damned if you don’t
Damned if you’re rich
Damned if you’re broke
Damned if you see
Damned if you’re blind
Damned if you seek
Damned if you find

Damned if you do
Damned if you don’t
Damned if you’re rich
Damned if you’re broke
Damned if you see
Damned if you’re blind
Damned if you seek
Damned if you find

In the death parade
You can see the bodies tumbling down
At the grave
Where the flesh dances
From the bones
Oh you can see hearts crumble
Like pomegranates

Pull the pin
Pomegranate heart
Take off your skin
Pull the pin
Pomegranate heart
Take off your skin

Damned if I do
Damned if I don’t

Damned if you do
Damned if you don’t
Damned if you’re rich
Damned if you’re broke
Damned if you see
Damned if you’re blind
Damned if you seek
Damned if you find

Damned if you do
Damned if you don’t
Damned if you’re rich
Damned if you’re broke
Damned if you see
Damned if you’re blind
Damned if you seek
Damned if you find

Damned if you do
Damned if you don’t
