By Christopher Cole (April 6, 2022, 7:00 p.m. EDT) — It was music to the ears of some wireless industry advocates when Federal Communications Commission Chairman Jessica Rosenworcel told lawmakers that these days that his agency was still weighing heavily on whether to open the 12 GHz band for terrestrial wireless use.
Calling it “one of the most complex files we have” from an engineering perspective, Rosenworcel said a decision on the future of the satellite-dominated band will take time. But despite the caveat, proponents of spectrum sharing felt optimistic after his remarks that a 12GHz remake remains on the horizon.
