Matt Heafy covers “Running Up That Hill” in the style of Metallica


It seems there is no end to stranger things pushing popular 80s songs back into the mainstream. Vincent, who has made a name for himself performing various styles of popular hit songs, can deftly adapt a more menacing vocal approach to bring new flair to Bush’s brooding ’80s vibe. But it’s Heafy who pulls it all together, first performing Metallica-style riffs on guitar, before taking the mic himself to join Vincent’s vocals with a grittier vocal approach.

The majority of the video finds the two musicians skillfully adapting Bush’s hit and making a thrash song that would fit perfectly into Metallica’s catalog. But just when you think it’s as good as it’s going to be, YouTube guitar sensation Stevie T steps in with a searing solo to end the song.

Metallica and Kate Bush both fell victim to the so-called Stranger Things bump this summer. Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ climbed Top 5 on the Alternative Chart and reached Top 10 on the Radio Top 40, while Metallica’s ‘Master of Puppets’ returned to the Active Rock Chart after its crucial inclusion in the last season.
