Hailing from Lakeville, Erin Grand is carving out a music career in Nashville, having recently released new music for her growing fan base.

Her last two singles – “Lonely Does” and “Better With Wine” – showcase her dynamic personality exploring both loss of love and being more carefree and offbeat.

Grand, who started in the music business in a Christian rock band in Lakeville and then in an acoustic duet with her friend Madison, moved full-time to Nashville in February 2020. She spends most of her waking hours. to develop his art of composing and his musical talents.

“’Lonely Does’ was the first song I wrote in Nashville and it completely rocked my world and changed my life,” Grand told Sounds Like Nashville. “One of my co-writers, Allie Dunn, came up with the idea and we weren’t quite sure what to do with it or what it meant until we started digging deeper, which is fun because the title seems pretty self-explanatory. After the song was almost half-finished, we all started to realize just how relevant this song could really be. We have all experienced major heartache in our lives, whether it is about a breakup or a real loss in your life. We realized that this was so much more than just a breakup song and that it was truly a reflection of how someone can cry during real loss. of a loved one.

In October 2020, Grand released her debut single “Mood”, as she continues to release new music, supported by a female-only team. She is a member of Nashville’s Song Suffragettes, a collective of songwriters dedicated to helping women artists gain a voice in the music industry.

“I never really did well in school – it just wasn’t my thing. And I’ve never had a full-time job that doesn’t involve music, ”she said. “That’s what I was put here for.”

Drawing inspiration from the styles of favorites Maren Morris, Keith Urban, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, Grand’s sound – which she calls “pop country with a lot of soul” – compliments her lyrical voice.

“I love to write about what could be … made-up things,” she said. “Imagine things in a way that most men or women would dream of wanting.”

Grand won the Midwest CMO Grand Prize – SongTown Songwriter Forum and Vocalist of the Year at the Midwest Country Music Organization Awards in 2019 and 2020.

Grand recently took time out of his busy schedule to answer a few questions for the newspaper.

What is your current schedule? Play shows? Write music? Repeat ? Etc.

My weekdays are usually pretty busy writing once or twice a day and creating content to distribute to fans. Typically the writes go from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then I have the rest of my day to create something for my social platforms! During the weekends I play shows or have full rehearsals for bigger upcoming events!

How is the lifestyle? Pleasant, stressful, fun, a roller coaster?

Right now it’s very nice with a pinch of stress, haha! I wouldn’t trade my career for anything, but like everyone else, there are good days and bad days in the industry. Generally, they’re all pretty awesome though. I would also say that my life can be very uncertain, because you never know what will happen to you in the music business. Sometimes it’s slow and difficult not to know when your most important goals will be achieved. … But then one day you might play a show, and the next thing you know, your life might be changed in the best way. It’s as easy as having the right person in the room.

What type of support network do you have in your career? How much does this mean to you?

Back home in Minnesota, I have the biggest family in the world (maybe I’m a little biased there). They support me tremendously – from my immediate family, to my extended family, to my hometown friends. I couldn’t ask for a better support system out there. In Nashville, I’m incredibly lucky to have a great team behind me as well. My Quinton Digital team, my Elicity PR team, and of course all the amazing friends I’ve made along the way.

How do you feel about your career at this point? What is the next step?

I feel very comfortable and confident in where I am in my career. Every musician’s path is so different here, and it’s fun to create and find my own. The next steps are the release of the new music (coming very soon) and the continued writing for the music to come later next year as well. Lots of fun things to come in the near future, and I can’t wait for everything to be out there in the world. Hope this makes my hometown proud!
