Family-owned hotel company The Comiskey Group, the company behind the Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel, has unveiled plans for another Queensland music venue and pub.
Scheduled to open in late 2024 with a capacity of 2,500, the company is calling the new $35 million project the Sunshine Coast’s largest music venue and hotel.
With a world-class sound and lighting system for local, interstate, and international acts, it features a mezzanine level and “first-rate entertainment facilities currently unheard of in the area.”
The venue is in the green star rated community of Stockland Aura, with a population of 10,000 and a 10 minute drive from Caloundra and next to the Bruce Highway.
It is also close to Coochin Fields, which the Comiskey Group announced in May as a new 150-hectare outdoor festival site that it will lease to promoters.
With indoor and outdoor dining areas, six bars, a games room and function spaces, the concert hall and pub will form part of Aura’s entertainment hub in the city centre.
It is proposed that the hub will include a regional shopping center, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, medical facilities, an urban university campus, private schools, a transit center and public spaces.
It will be backed by an 11-hectare South Bank-style park.
“South East Queensland is where we were born and raised,” Comiskey manager Rob Comiskey said this morning.
“We are passionate about bringing premium experiences to places rich with opportunity in this thriving state.
“We have the largest entertainment offering in the Moreton Bay area and felt it was only natural to expand into the neighboring Sunshine Coast.”
He added: “Aura is just 10 minutes from our Coochin Fields location, so we are thrilled to create a thriving entertainment epicenter for the Sunshine Coast and bring something truly special to this already innovative and unique community. !
Josh Sondergeld, Project Director at Stockland Aura, noted that the venue will become a “leisure hub for our residents and visitors to enjoy a family meal, celebrate a milestone or catch a major international act live”.
According to Comiskey Group Entertainment Director Jonathan (Jono) Jackson, “The Sunshine Coast offers an incredible lifestyle, it’s a great place to visit, but we’ve seen a gap in the market in terms of live music venues. .
“The region’s continued population growth is creating increased demand for high-end production opportunities locally.
“Residents of Sunshine Coast and Aura can expect world-class talent at their doorstep!”
