The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC) commemorates Pride Month in June with two events for creators and professionals in the LGBT music industry, as part of the organization’s ongoing work to develop partnership programming culture that underscores the MLC’s commitment to diversity.

Created by Dae Bogan – MLC’s Third-Party Partnerships Manager – this year’s Pride Month events include a first-ever in-person workshop for LGBT creators at the MLC offices in Nashville on June 22, and the second annual his “Tuning Into Pride” Roundtable Discussion Webinar on June 1st.

LGBT music creators and music industry professionals have made significant strides over the years to increase their visibility and reach in all aspects of the music industry. From artist collaborations and stage performances to implementing behind-the-scenes change and moving up the corporate ladder, the LGBTQ community has proudly and boldly taken new steps toward equality.

“It is an honor to have the encouragement and support of MLC to develop experiences that champion and recognize the careers and works of LGBT music creators and music industry professionals,” Bogan said. “I’ve had a career spanning nearly 20 years in the music industry as a creator and professional and know firsthand how challenging and challenging it can be to own your own identity. I’m thrilled to ‘to invite a diverse group of LGBT creators and music professionals to participate in this year’s Pride events and hope that creators and professionals from all walks of life will also find value in hearing their stories.’

“Last year’s Pride Month webinar was a huge success, and Dae has done an outstanding job of building on that success by expanding our Pride Month lineup with a new workshop for LGBT creators. “, added Kris Ahrend, CEO of MLC. “These types of initiatives are a key part of achieving MLC’s mission and exemplify how we put into practice our commitment to diversity for the benefit of all of our members.”

The MLC welcomes discussions with individuals and organizations that aim to educate and empower music makers from historically marginalized or underrepresented communities as it continues to develop its cultural partnerships. To find out more, contact partnerships@themlc.com.
