Trivium Drop Epic Video for the new song “In the Court of the Dragon”

Trivium released an epic music video for their new song “In the Court of the Dragon”.

The song, which features an intro composed and orchestrated by the legend of Emperor Ihsahn, comes shortly after the release of What the dead say, Trivium’s ninth studio album released in April of last year.

Stylistically, “In the Court of the Dragon” fits firmly into the realm of Trivium’s two previous albums and it’s clear that, at least for now, the band has found a remarkable sticking point for their skillful mix of dynamic. And the blast beats sound really, really good under Matt Heafy’s clear, soothing vocals.

“We started putting together the riffs for what would become ‘In the Dragon’s Court’ last year with no tour on the horizon,” said bassist Paolo Gregoletto, who recently celebrated the birth of his first child. .

“We decided to use the uncertainty to our advantage and create without any of the limitations and commitments that would normally eat away at our time in the jam room,” he continued.

Offering a glimpse into the significance of this new track, the bassist explained, “The title of the song is taken from a short story by Robert W. Chambers. The story is filled with dread and uncertainty, and it seemed. appropriate for the times we ‘ve all been living for a year. Rather than a straightforward narrative, we decided to take a different path and build our own narrative around the music we were creating. “

“Similar to some of our previous songs and albums, this song started out with lyrics rooted in mythology,” he continued. “But unlike in the past, we decided to create our own myth to fit the music. Being free to create the story and write the music with no deadline, due to a once in a lifetime event, really has made for one of the most rewarding writing and recording experiences we have ever had. We hope it lives up to your expectations. “

Regarding the artwork, Heafy relayed, “As the music for ‘In the Dragon’s Court’ took shape, we knew we needed epic artwork of the type you might see. on the wall of an important museum of a long-dead renaissance Master. “

Now, Trivium will have another new track to work on live on this summer when they hit the road as special guests on Megadeth and Lamb of God’s North American tour, which also includes In Flames. They will finally be able to support What the dead say also and a list of upcoming tour dates can be viewed here.

Trivium, Lyrics of “In the Dragon’s Court”

In the courtyard of the dragon
Death of the gods and of the world
In the courtyard of the dragon
You will know your worth

Hammer tight
Open mouth
Living under the tides of pain
Surely any man would drown

Horrible king
Inaudible cries
Bathed in blood
You will get what you deserve

House on fire
Only son
Hidden from mortals
Hunted far away but never found

Nightmare past
Haunt him
Biding his time
Sinks into the sea

In the courtyard of the dragon
Death of the gods and of the world
In the courtyard of the dragon
You will know your worth
Final confrontation
Beast and man
Rising violent waves
Bloody head in hand

Open mouth
Swallow the king
Gods devoured everything
Extinguishing the light

No more
Will the sun look down to light up the world

Despite all the hate behind those eyes
I saw that only one of us survives
I’m here to destroy you
I’m here to take revenge
In the courtyard of the dragon I go down

The stars are dead and the skies are burning
Earth
The wells
The stars are dead and the skies are burning

Earth
The wells
The stars are dead and the skies are burning
Earth
The wells
The stars are dead and the skies are burning

Despite all the hate behind those eyes
I saw that only one of us survives
I’m here to destroy you
I’m here to take revenge
In the courtyard of the dragon I go down

Despite all the hate behind those eyes
I saw that only one of us survives
I’m here to destroy you
I’m here to take revenge
In the courtyard of the dragon I go down

In the courtyard of the dragon
Death of the gods and of the world
In the courtyard of the dragon
You will know your worth
