What would it be like if SpongeBob had a metalcore band?

‘SpongeCore’ is causing a stir on social media after a creator put SpongeBob SquarePants’ voice over part of Knocked Loose’s song ‘Mistakes Like Fractures’, showing listeners what it would sound like if SpongeBob had a metalcore band .

The fun combo that uses a clip from a 2001 episode of Nickelodeon’s animation Sponge Bob SquarePants — already a meme unto itself — came to life on TikTok last month after being shared by TikTok user @iitsgalo. But the idea itself comes from musician and mashup creator Neil Schneider, who recorded an EP in 2015, xSPONGEXCOREx’s Bold and Thrashthat put Spongebob dialogue with metal music.

In April, Schneider told New Fury Media, “xSPONGEXCOREx continues to amaze me eight years later with everything he’s blown up! It’s such a great feeling to see something you create being loved by so many people. people and receive so much praise.”

Schneider added: “At the same time, it’s such a strange feeling. Because I created the project completely out of boredom. It was supposed to be nothing more than a few songs to make my friends laugh. And yet here we are, eight years later, and I made a whole community laugh too.”

Spongebob is often mixed with rock and metal culture by nostalgic viewers who are also music fans. Slipknot’s Corey Taylor often performs the TV show’s theme during his solo shows.

“Mistakes Like Fractures”, which appears on Knocked Loose’s Another shade of bluetheir second album released in August 2019, emerged as a multi-month top single in April.
